Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the response. We do not keep or record those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Messages sent by email are retained as needed to prepare a response. They remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When the website loads, its servers automatically receive certain technical information about the visit:
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- A referring website, when available
- The date and time of each page request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure website use, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that traffic information for reporting. Cookies can be blocked through browser settings, although disabling them may change how some website functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating, maintaining, and improving website performance
- Routing a submitted query to the correct search partner
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Delivering advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
No database of personal criminal-record information is maintained, assembled, or sold here. The content identifies where Carroll County records may be held and how to contact the sheriff's records unit, criminal courts, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Georgia Crime Information Center, and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. Official agency access is governed by the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70 et seq., and GCIC dissemination provisions in O.C.G.A. §§ 35-3-34 and 35-3-35. This is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not converted into consumer reports or third-party criminal records.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy, including its own retention and disclosure rules. Those practices are beyond our control, so review the applicable provider policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to a sheriff, court portal, Georgia agency, legal-aid organization, or outside search service. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites for targeted advertising. That process occurs through the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed only to categories such as:
- Search providers processing a submitted query
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving website ads
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so absolute protection or prevention of every breach cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and personal information is not knowingly collected from anyone younger than 18. If a minor is believed to have provided information, contact us so it can be deleted promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by residence and applicable Georgia consumer-protection law. The Georgia Fair Business Practices Act, O.C.G.A. § 10-1-390 et seq., may also govern certain practices. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Request access to personal information held about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Seek deletion of information where permitted
- Object to eligible forms of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. Any replacement will be posted here and will identify a new effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
